## The grief of losing a child

Yoshie and her husband Tadahiko lose their 5-year-old daughter Mei in a tragedy. To comfort her grieving heart, Yoshie one day buys a life-size antique doll named Aya from an antique market — a doll whose face resembles the daughter who has died.

## When the doll is found again

Several years later Yoshie has another daughter, Mai, and the doll Aya has been left in a wardrobe. The horror begins when Mai is old enough to understand and finds the doll, taking it to play with as a friend.

From then on, strange events and violent hauntings break out all over the house. However hard the family tries to throw away or destroy the doll, Aya always finds a way back, because it carries a vengeful spirit and a deep-rooted grudge.
